How Time Flies

I checked in at the blog today to update my garden writing list of published articles and was shocked to see it’s been three months—three months!!!—since I last posted here.  My, oh, my, how time flies when distracted by other projects.

The good news is that The Gardener’s Plot is making its way along the road to publication.  I’ve just submitted my review of what are called “first pass pages,” which is the manuscript typeset so it looks much as it will look in book form.  Pretty exciting stuff for a first time author.  I have printed out the pages and put them in a binder on my desk with a printout of the book’s cover on the cover.  It’s not a book yet, but it’s getting closer.

When not working on The Gardener’s Plot, I’ve been writing gardening articles.  If you’re curious, click on the Garden Writing tab to see a list of my published articles, with links to the UVM website where you can read them without having to deal with a paywall elsewhere.

And, of course, I’ve been working on the manuscript for book two of my Maggie Walker/Berkshire Gardener mysteries.  It’s tentatively titled The Gardener’s Cat.  So what could go wrong?  Well, aside from a corpse or two . . .

And then there’s spring cleaning and work in the garden to be done.  Lots of cleaning up to do out there with autumn’s leaves and the remains of last summer’s plants.  While it’s still too early in these parts to be planting anything yet—there’s always the chance of s-n-o-w or at least a drop in temperature below freezing, so we tend to wait until around Memorial Day to put anything not frost hardy in the garden.

Between writing and work around the homestead, time certainly has flown since that last blog post back in January.  Now that spring is here, there’ll be more happening in the garden to write about and news to share about The Gardener’s Plot.  I hope you’ll stay tuned.
