World Garden Naked Day – Do You Dare?

Is there really such a thing as World Garden Naked Day?  I find it hard to comprehend that anyone would willingly give mosquitos and other pesky critters a more expansive target for their next meal.  And that’s not even taking into consideration the stabbing potential of thorns.  Or walking on broken pottery.  Or sunburn.  That’s a lot of sunscreen and insect repellant.

Personally, I’ll shake my head and give World Garden Naked Day a pass.

In this day of tick bites and lime disease (among others), I enter the garden covered to wrists and toes in fabric treated to reduce the possibility of becoming mama tick’s next meal.  I miss those days gone by when I could go out into the garden in shorts and a tank top without a worry except staying too long and getting a sunburn.  Maybe someday the tick population will get back to reasonable levels and the new invasive species will decide this area isn’t to their liking.  We can hope.

In the meantime, no naked or near naked gardening for me.  I have too much to do in the garden to get sidelined.
